I played this last about 15 years ago and everything worked fine. Its just been sitting, overall in good shape. I am trying to decide if I should clean it up and keep it or just sell it.
Any ideas on its value/popularity?
Availability of parts if there are future problems?
When I search the internet I find a ton of stuff about the Suspense circa 1969?, but little on this machine which seems to be alot more rare and circa 1946, and on ipdb.org they say it was the first game offered by the manufacturer.
A pic for clarification:

We'd love to hear you say that you plan to clean it up and play it. with step by step details. and lots of pix.

Value. Good question. Flipperless pins aren't a real high-demand item, except among the relatively few folks who are into such things. Then again, if you could get a few folks who just had to have Williams Model #1 to fight over it - who knows?

Light bulbs and rubber rings are readily available, coils should be too. Bumper skirts will require some ingenuity if they need replacing. There isn't much else to go bad.

Suspense was indeed the first game made by Williams that was not converted from an earlier game. There isn't much other history out there.

It did get a mention in this conversation between Harry Williams and Russ Jensen. http://www.pinballcollectorsresource.com/russ_files/harryvisit.html

We could use another nudgy fan around here!

btw.... ipdb could use some better pix of SUSPENSE if you could manage it.

It would be awesome to keep, but business has been slow for me lately and I may be forced to get rid of some things such as that to get back on track.
We shall see after its up and running I guess,
any ideas of a ballpark price I should even ask for?

Well I plugged it up and everything seems to be working fine. A few bulbs out in the top but I'm going to go ahead and replace them all because there so grimy and dim. Overall the machine looks in good shape, all the instructions, labels, and diagrams are visible underneath the board so this will be a great machine for somebody.

Sounds good.

If you're going to replace all the bulbs, I would recommend using #47 instead of the hotter #44 lamps. If they are screw-base bulbs, replace #46 with #40 .

cool
