What is it about Skill Pool that makes people run for the bucket and brush? Saw a horribly overpriced one some years back that was Gumby green. There's one on ipdb with white slopped on the coin door. And now this. At least this one is cheap rattlecan stuff that wipes right off.

Dam fugly paint job.

It has a couple of small funky spots on the glass. The playfield would rate 9.5+. No kidding it's sweet.

$225 and it came home. I get to scratch one of those kinda-like-to-have-it games off the list.

cheers

Where's that new can of Goof-Off?

edit: found the Goof-Off. Score: Goof-Off 1 , fugly rattlecan blue 0

also found out why someone did it.

original paint is covered with evil black residue from this 'ol pin being in a building that was on fire.

stuff is nasty and persistent and what takes it off takes paint too.

we'll see how it goes. nice of someone to rescue it for me anyway.

pix to follow.

Sorry to hear about the damage underneath!!! Do you have one good side you can trace the artwork from? My Guns N roses looked like somebody set one side of the back box on fire (was a free machine that worked) I have some before pics, during fix pics. Need to go to the storage unit and take some of how it looks now. On a side note, that goof off is pretty darn amazing and easy to use isn't it?? Puts a new perspective on buying a machine cheap cause it's been painted.

Post some pics of how it looks underneath that lovely blue..

Looks like it's gonna need a paint job.

Looks like stencils will not be a problem...

My buddy at the paint store can help out with the colors.

The red is a bit dark but that green looks pretty close.

Now, back to the original question. Why do people do stuff like this?

It's a bell coil. Yeah, they're loud. That's why Williams put a plug on the wire and a socket on the coil. So folks with delicate ears could unplug the bell.

I hope he spent an hour looking for the nippers.

tard

Looks like you have a winner there!!!!!!!!!! Wanna trade "new to us" pins? As for the Why do people do stupid stuff??? No more need to wonder, just look @ all the idiots you run into on a daily basis!! If there were no idiots,we wouldn't be considered smart!!LOL I do agree there seems to be an overabundance of them in recent years. ;-)

GL on the new pin. Take pics as you move FWD. with it. I love to watch someones work in progress then the final results.

trade? hm. shipping would kill that in a hurry.

Anyhow... backbox insert tilts back for changing bulbs and such.

pic of glass with a lamp behind it:

lost a little color at bottom of 'P'.. small flaky area below that.

more missing color and larger flaky patch down by Mr. Ripper.

not too bad.

Let's play a game......

Here's the 1-point relay. It gets used a lot and has issues. There's problems in this pic:

How many do you see?

I got six.

How about you?

Give up?

okay.

(1) obvious... jumper wire half broken.

(2) second switch from left has a broken leaf.

(3) what's that piece of brass soldered to the armature?

(4) first switch looks like it was adjusted with blacksmith tongs.

(5) funky slot head mounting screw. (I'm anal. so kill me)

(6) bonus... wire hanging at top goes to ones counter - should be tied up in harness but (7) has a couple inches of extra wire twisted on the end which is (8) frayed and almost touching the next terminal.

Ain't pinball fun?

dang. (7) and (8) above could have been (7)switch stacks swapped because (8)switch overheated and (9)melted plastic part of armature.

I kept the label and screws, and built a relay from the parts bin.

Same for tens and hundreds, except didn't replace all of the switches.

Used pieces from feature relays that didn't get used much.

Put a new plunger in the small bell and riveted the bell to the bracket with a big nasty rivet that isn't going to fall apart again.

Darling donated her replay unit as the old one was just gross... had to build a couple more switches to match the old. I think this thing got WD'ed or some such.

Match unit cleaned up ok... couldn't get the metal sleeve out of the coil easily so off to the parts bin again for coil, plunger, stop, and a new sleeve.

Time to rework the score reset relay and figure out what the score reels need... no help from the parts bin for them though.

projects...

I don't think stencils are going to be a problem.

Some progress made on the innards.
